Hello, I'm Calder Scarpa, a current 5th-year USC student pursuing a professional 5-year Architecture degree with a minor in Product Design. Alongside my studies, I have had many years of experience interning and working under architectural firms in Los Angeles, as well as becoming a finalist in a few design competitions (see "Architecture" and "Vertical Farming" for more).
Outside, and within my education, I am deeply passionate about: surfing, drawing, biomimicry, food science, aquaponics and cooking. I have been cooking consistently for the past 6 years now but I have been surrounded by, and grew up around, homemade meals since I was a baby (see "Art" and "Food" for more).
I thrive on designing hands-on work, and because of that, I have made multiple product prototypes and sculptures. Ranging from a foldable chess table, to a ping-pong sculpture capable of holding your wine glass for you (see "Products" for more).
Beyond my primary areas of design expertise, I am fascinated by coding, and computational/parametric design. Leveraging my AI and coding skills, alongside tools like Grasshopper, I craft simple and comprehensive: scripts, designs, and animations (see "Computation" for more).
I invite you to explore my portfolio of work firsthand to discover my intersection of art, design, and technology!
