Vertical Farming
This project was part of an 8 month long competition against schools from around the world, all working on a different design to build a vertical farm facility in Ward 7, Washington DC, which is an area that has a food scarcity issue. There are a ton of fast food stores within this overlooked town, and not a single grocery-store anywhere close. Our team "USC Stack" came up with a design that was different. Instead of having residents come to a large vertical farm building, we decided to focus on a mobile grocery store that brings the food produced from the vertical farm, to them. Eliminating the need for people to commute, we designed a network of drop-off locations that our custom all electric mobile grocery store would travel to. There is more detail on our project below, as well as a video overview, drawings, and images from the final reveal that was hosted at WUR (the university), in the Netherlands. The challenge was called the "WUR Urban Greenhouse Challenge" and if you want more details and information from the competition, you can look at their website linked below.
