8th Semester Studio, Abroad: "Food Creates Communities"
This studio project was made while I was studying abroad in Barcelona Spain for a semester. This project started in a group setting, with a 3 other of my classmates. We selected our site on the corner of a block, adjacent to a part of the Rhonda. We then created an outline to adaptively reuse each building in our site with a different program, and opened the center for outdoor activities. The programs for each building we considered to be a necessity for living, such as food, housing, medicine, creativity, and education. Then, for the second half of the semester, we each focused individually on one of the buildings in our site, to further detail the program it would be used for. I transformed my building into a culinary center, where people can gather to eat, take classes to learn how to cook, tend to an edible garden, or even visit a farmers market.
